The Town has plenty in store for Halloween this year. We’ll have the White Deer Monster Dash 5K and Family Fun Run on Oct. 29. The 5K race is scheduled for 4 p.m. It’ll start and end at Lake Benson Park (921 Buffaloe Road). Runners can dress in Halloween costumes for a chance to win a prize. The Family Fun Run starts at 5 p.m. in the park. Participants can trick-or-treat their way through the one-mile course. Costumes are encouraged. The fun doesn’t stop with the races. You can also enjoy the free Goblins in the Park festivities from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Lake Benson Park on Oct. 29. You and your family can take part in the Halloween costume contest, walk through the Trail of Terror and Hallows Eve Family Trail, and enjoy hayrides and other fun activities.
On Oct. 31 (the Town’s “official” day for trick-or-treating), Garner will formally open the new South Garner Greenway. There will be an opening ceremony at 2 p.m. followed by trick-or-treating for kids from about 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the trail. Parking and trail access are at White Deer Park (2400 Aversboro Road).
Have a fun and safe Halloween.
